40th edition of Fatacil was «the best ever»

Number of visitors increased by 10%

The 40th edition of Fatacil was the "best ever" for Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa. The event had more than 195 visitors, breaking the record of last year's edition.

According to Câmara de Lagoa, the success is due to "the investment in the diversity of exhibitors, gastronomy, handicrafts, youth and renowned artists in the Portuguese panorama".

the contest, which was inaugurated by Capoulas Santos, Minister of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development and which was also visited by António Costa, prime minister, on 23 August, ended on 25 August after 10 days in which «Lagoa was filled with music, culture, tradition, youth and lots of entertainment» , highlights the municipality.

According to the Municipality of Lagoa, there was "an increase of approximately 10% in the number of visitors and ticket revenue compared to 2018".

«The improvement in parking, greater fluidity in the purchase of tickets, with an average waiting time never exceeding 8 minutes and an increase in online ticket sales of around 15%, greatly facilitated access to the Fairs and Exhibitions Park de Lagoa», considers the Municipality of Lagoa.

The record for entries was broken on Saturday, August 24, with the performance of the fado singer Mariza with the Orquestra Clássica do Sul. On that day alone, nearly 30 visitors visited the venue.

“The new developments, the bet on the improvement and the permanent dynamization of Fatacil, brand signature of the last five editions, contributed a lot to the huge influx of public”, highlights the municipality.

Algarve wines were once again highlighted, as well as Espaço Amar a Terra, «where the tables were always full, revealing the curiosity of visitors for the gastronomy, traditions and culture of the Algarve. The entertainment, guaranteed by the performance of folklore groups from various parts of the country, and the get-togethers and show cooking sessions were another attraction for the success of that space».

Also the equestrian sector had "great influx of public", «particularly in the days of performance of the “headliner”, Paco Martos, an absolute debut in Portugal.

The Câmara de Lagoa also highlights the craft space, where artisans worked live, in traditional activities, during the 10 days of the fair.

«Another of the successes of the 40th edition was a poster geared towards youth, with the creation of a Fun Zone and an electronic tent where the highlights were video games, simulators and even well-known youtubers, such as Tiagovski, Jéssica Pinho, Nuno Moura, Pedro Tim, JaimeDrake or Shutdown, who were available to socialize with the younger people», adds the municipality of Lagos.

The environment was not forgotten and there was a reduction in plastic at the fair, through the campaign “A cup in your hand is worth more than a dozen on the floor”, where around 50 recyclable cups were used. This novelty, according to Câmara de Lagoa, «led to visitors to help the environment, and take with them about 20 thousand recyclable and reusable cups».

For all these reasons, Luis Encarnação considers that this was «the best FATACIL ever, a true showcase of the best that the Algarve and the country have to offer».

After the dismantling works – which should be completed during the first week of September -, the Municipality of Lagoa will start preparing the 41st edition, which will take place between the 21st and 30th of August 2020.
