Young people from 11 European countries meet in Alcoutim to stimulate their creativity

In all, there will be 55 young Europeans

Young people from 11 European countries will be in Alcoutim from August 9th to 19th, to participate in the International exchange HEY – Heritage for the European Youth.

As part of the initiative, on the 17th, the village on the banks of the Guadiana will host a show with these young people, which will be the final celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

In all, 55 young Europeans, plus 11 team leaders, from Slovakia, Latvia, Italy, Estonia, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Poland, Belgium, Greece and Portugal, will artistically invade the Algarve village for ten days .

They come to celebrate the European Year of Cultural Heritage, and, by stimulating creativity, through bodily, sound, plastic, scenic and multimedia expression, they will represent the cultural diversity present there.

Using local materials and stories, a show will be produced to be presented at the Castle of Alcoutim, on August 17th, at 21 pm, which everyone is invited to watch for free.

There will be “music, dance, street entertainment, plastic interventions and, most important of all, lots of fun and fun!” stresses the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

The event is organized by the team made up of participants from different countries, members of the Check-In Association and professionals from various artistic fields who will coordinate the production of the final show.

This initiative is promoted by Check-IN Association - Cooperation and Development, an association that has worked for nine years in national and international projects in the field of non-formal education. It is dedicated to promoting social integration, solidarity, tolerance, democratic practices, human rights and ecological awareness for sustainable development.

The project was approved by the National Erasmus+ Youth in Action Agency, with the support of the Municipality of Alcoutim and the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, and with the partnership of 10 European entities and other local entities.
