The 27th Volta ao Algarve in Vela has already started

Last race ends in Tavira

The 27th Algarve Sailing Tour began today with a regatta between Lagos and Albufeira. About 160 crew members are part of the event, distributed in 35 vessels, four of which are Spanish and the rest are Portuguese.

During this competition, consisting of three different regattas, participants will have to complete a total of 60 miles, along the Algarve coast, "under favorable navigation conditions, but still challenging", according to the Ginásio Clube Naval of Faro, which organizes the race.

The event also has a social framework, "which is reflected in moments for socializing, after the conclusion of each regatta, ending with a sunset at the arrival point of the last race", adds the club.

On the second day of competition, the sailors depart from Albufeira and finish their route on Ilha da Culatra.

The last stage of the Volta ao Algarve à Vela departs from Ilha da Culatra and ends in Tavira, where the 27th edition of this initiative will be concluded.

This edition, sponsored by Fidelidade and organized by the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, aims to «to spread the taste for the sport, while contributing to the training of future generations of sailors in Portugal».
