Igreja da Penina celebrates in honor of Santo André with music and food and drinks

The festivals in honor of Santo André, at the Igreja da Penina, will liven up Portimão on the weekends of 3rd and 4th and 10th and 11th of August. Popular music and religious celebrations will mark this event that has been celebrated since 1992.

According to the Municipality of Portimão, there will be two "festive weekends full of faith and devotion" in which recreational activities and musical entertainment "have an important role, bringing together hundreds of residents and tourists in socializing and socializing."

The local authority highlights, from the liturgical program, the solemn Eucharist scheduled for the 4th and 12th of August, always at 12:15 pm. The festivals, on the four days of the festival, start at 20 pm, in Largo da Igreja da Penina.

The artists' performances are scheduled for 21:00. On the 3rd of August, the animation is in charge of Marco António and, on the 4th, of Emanuel Martins.

On the 10th, Lionel Alexandre will perform, and on the 11th, Humberto Silva.

«In addition to the religious component, food and drinks and popular music for dancing are part of the program, in an event in which the funds collected revert to that church», highlights the Portimão Town Council.

The local authority recalls that «the Festa de Santo André has a lot of history and great artists have already been there. The food and drinks, the famous and delicious “Filhós de Santo André” and the kermesses make the Feast in honor of this patron saint provide everyone with great moments of fun, not missing the dancing foot».

This traditional festival, which always takes place on the first two weekends of August, has free entry, is organized by the St. André Apostolic Center and has the support of the Alvor Parish Council and the Portimão City Council.
