Young man arrested who set fire to his house in Luz de Tavira

Detainee is unemployed and has a criminal record

A 24-year-old young man, suspected of having set fire to his own house, where he lived with relatives, in Luz de Tavira, was detained by the Judiciary Police. 

According to the PJ, "there are strong indications" that this young man, "in the early morning of 20 June, between 3:00 and 5:00 am" set off "a fire in the kitchen of the house he shared with his mother, sisters and brother-in-law."

“Underlying this act is the excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and psychotropic substances, in a context of domestic violence against the family”, reports the Judiciary Police.

The arrest took place as part of an investigation overseen by the Public Ministry of the DIAP in Tavira.

The detainee, unemployed and with a criminal record and convictions for various crimes, including the crime of forest fire, will be present at a judicial interrogation for the application of coercive measures.
