Algarvio Iago Bebiano wins bronze medal at the European Junior Canoeing Speed ​​Championship

Athlete of the Lagoa team was part of the national team

Iago Bebiano, athlete of the Kayak Clube Castores do Arade, from Lagoa, won the Bronze medal this Sunday, in K1 200m, in the European Junior and Sub 23 Championship of Canoeing Speed.

The young Algarvian, representing the national team, recorded a time of 37,856 seconds, finishing just 6 tenths of a second behind the winner, Daniel Atkins, from Great Britain, who won with 37,195 seconds. Second place was the representative of Russia, Nikita Baranniko, with 37,505 seconds.

Iago Bebiano, 18 years old, is coached by his father, Nuno Silva, head coach of Castores do Arade and son of the great athlete Ana Bebiano, 200m masters world champion in title.

Iago Bebiano is the second athlete from the Beavers to win a 200m medal in a European Junior Championship, demonstrating the great appetite for athletes from Algarve for the fastest canoeing competitions.

Iago Bebiano arrives in Lisbon next Tuesday, where he rests until Friday and starts preparing for the World Championship, which will take place in Romania, from 1st to 4th August.

Iago, in this championship, also participated in the K4 of the national team, which got the 8th place.
