“Defending pediatrics at the Hospital de Portimão” is the motto of the vigil/concentration that the Commission of Users of the National Health Service will promote tomorrow, June 19, at 18:00, in front of the hospital unit in Portimão.
With this protest, users aim, on the one hand, to demand the hiring of more pediatricians and, on the other, to say no to the closure of the birth block and pediatric emergencies at the Hospital de Portimão.
The maternity hospital of this hospital unit was closed between the 7th and 11th of June, due to "the lack of pediatricians to ensure neonatal care in physical presence." as denounced, at the time, the Independent Union of Physicians, a situation that led to repudiation reactions from different parties.
