The festivities of Santos Populares will liven up Quarteira and the parish of São Clemente, in the municipality of Loulé, on the 12th, 23rd and 28th of June.

In Quarteira, popular marches are once again the main attraction of the festivities, in what, according to the Câmara de Loulé, is a «true ethnographic manifestation linked to the sea, namely the costumes, music and choreographies of the participating groups».

“On the three nights of celebrations – Santo António, S. João and S. Pedro – hundreds of people from Quartieri parade in one of the biggest events of its kind in the south of the country and which is a tourist attraction in the Algarve at this time of year”, stresses the municipality.

The main districts and streets of Quarteira will be represented at the marches, namely the children's march of the António Aleixo Foundation (with the theme “As Andorinhas”), Florinhas de Quarteira (with the theme “Postais do Algarve”), Marcha Poeta Pardal (with the theme “Saudade de Portugal”), Rua do Outeiro (with the theme “Quarteira é Pescadora”), Rua Gago Coutinho (with the theme “As Peixeiras à Portuguesa”), Rua Vasco da Gama (with the theme “Uma Casa Portuguesa” ) and Rua da Cabine (with the theme “Quarteira à Flores”).

In the parish of São Clemente, Largo do Tribunal de Loulé will also host dances by Santos Populares, with free entry.

The program, set up jointly by the City Council and the Parish Council, begins with a ball on the 12th of June, with a ball animated by the group Fora D'Horas (20:00), performance by the Marcha de S. Clemente (22:00) and a show with the band Ganda Banda (22:30 pm).

On June 23, there is a ball with Ruben Baião (20:00), performance by the Marcha de S. Clemente (22:00) and a show with the Kremlin band (22:30).

On the 26th, the ball will be animated by Marcelo Filipe (20:00), followed by a performance by the Marcha de S. Clemente (22:00) and a show with the band HI-FI (22:30).
