Silves launches 'healthy occupation' program for young people during the summer

Young people will receive a weekly participation grant in the amount of 50 euros

The Municipality of Silves will promote the “Youth (+) Summer” program, between the 1st and 26th of July and the 9th and 18th of August, to occupy the free time of young people aged between 13 and 17 in a “healthy” way. who live or study in the county during the summer holidays.

Participants in the “Youth (+) Summer” program “may go through various municipal services, namely the sectors of Sports, Education, Archeology, the Municipal Library, the Municipal Archive and also the Medieval Fair”, according to the autarchy.

In exchange, the young people “will win a weekly participation grant through the attribution of a shopping voucher worth 50 euros”.

They are also part of the package transport during activities, if traveling outside the city of Silves, personal accident insurance and a certificate of participation.

Interested parties can register until the 21st of June, by filling out the form available online, which should be sent to the email [email protected].

The initiative organized by the Chamber's youth sector, in collaboration with the Committee for the Protection of Children and Youth of Silves (CPCJ), will have a total of six one-week shifts, to «allow the participation of the greatest number of people ».

The program runs from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm (time subject to change).

Each young person can only enroll in one shift. Participants can choose between the shifts that run from the 1st to the 5th of July (week 1), from the 8th to the 12th of July (week 2), from the 15th to the 19th of July (week 3), from the 22nd to the 26th of July (week 4), August 9th to August 13th (week 5) and August 14th to 18th (week 6).

"100 vacancies will be made available, to be distributed over the six weeks/shifts: from week/shift 1 to week/shift 4 there will be between 8 to 12 vacancies and in weeks/shifts 5 and 6 there will be between 26 to 34 vacancies to fill", added the autarchy.

The selection interviews, «with the aim of assessing the profile and interests of young people in order to be able to better integrate them into the services involved», will take place between the 24th and 28th of June.
