Future stars join for another Guadiana Cup

Opening ceremony is scheduled for the 24th of June at 20:30

“A Copa do Guadiana” brings together, from the 24th to the 19th of June, 145 teams for a youth football tournament in Vila Real de Santo António.

The teams are from 11 districts of mainland Portugal, Madeira and Azores.

The competition is divided into three categories: football 5 (classes 2011), football 7 (classes 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) and football 11 (2006), «all conditions being met for games at the highest level with young people between 7 and 13 years old», says the City Council of Vila Real de Santo António.

The games will take place at the Sports Complex of Vila Real de Santo António, Campo Francisco Gomes Socorro and the Sports Complex of Monte Gordo and will run daily between 8:30 am and 20:30 pm. The finals will be played only at the Sports Complex.

 

 

For Conceição Cabrita, Mayor of VRSA, the Copa do Guadiana «is one of the most important sporting events in the region» and marks the start of summer in the municipality. “It is, without a doubt, a strategic event for tourism, attracting hundreds of families to our municipality during the week of the competition”, says the mayor.

For the organization of the Copa do Guadiana, «this is one of the highlights of the season, having created all the necessary infrastructure for the realization of great football moments, bringing together the best players and clubs of today».

Around 80 people are allocated to the event for support and support, namely at the technical level. Throughout the race, the “Guadiana Bus” line will be created to transport the thousands of athletes between the accommodation and venues of the games.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for the 24th of June, at 20:30 pm, at the VRSA Sports Complex, and will feature a show of light, color and sound. With the exception of the opening act, whose ticket is worth 8 euros, all games are free.
