Francisco Amaral leaves the Interim Elections with a strengthened position

Francisco Amaral was re-elected mayor of Castro Marim and this time with an absolute majority, in the Interim Elections that took place this Sunday.

The Social Democrat achieved a clear victory over the two other candidate lists, the PS and the CDU, and now has three councilors out of five in the Chamber, one more than those he achieved in 2017. The other two are from the PS, which maintains the same number of elected as for about two years.

Contacted by Sul Informação, Francisco Amaral did not hide his satisfaction with the result obtained. “Basically, justice was done. The population realized what happened in the last year and a half», he said.

The Castro-Marinean mayor believes that this result "is a vote of confidence by the people" in his leadership, but also "a punishment for the opposition, which only bothered to hinder".

Now, believes Francisco Amaral, the PSD/CDS-PP executive that he leads will have «other conditions to govern», despite not having a majority in the Municipal Assembly.
