Lagoa will host the national final of the Young Olympic Tournament, the largest national youth athletics competition, on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bela Vista Municipal Stadium will be the stage for this competition, aimed at beginners and young athletes (born between 2002 and 2005). The tests take place on Saturday, the 8th, from 15:30 pm and on Sunday, the 9th, from 9:00 am.
Around 850 athletes are expected, coming from «all regions of the national territory (including islands) and also from the School Sports and Macau teams».
«This tournament includes all athletic disciplines, but each athlete can only take a maximum of two competitions – he can do three, as long as the 3rd is a relay. The regional team that obtains the highest sum of points in the tournament will win”, according to Câmara de Lagoa, which is a partner of the Portuguese Athletics Federation and the Algarve Athletics Association in carrying out the competition.
