Fair celebrates medronho at Loulé Market

As part of the show, there is a presentation and tasting of cocktails, smoothies and desserts with arbutus.

A fair, with the aim of promoting and marketing medronho or related products, takes place this Friday and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd, at Loulé Market.

This initiative comes after the organization, on the 17th of May, in the village of Cortelha, of the “Jornadas Técnicas – the strawberry tree and the arbutus tree”.

As part of the show, there will be a presentation and tasting of cocktails, shakes and desserts with medronho on the 22nd, at 16 pm, and information about their uses will be displayed throughout the event.

"The aim of this initiative is that the medronho brandy, as a local product, is a factor of distinction and enhancement of the offer in terms of spirits and that the medronho can have a more diversified use", says the Chamber of Loulé.

The hours of the show/fair will be as follows: the 21st, Friday, from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 17:00 pm. Admission is free.

This initiative is part of a broader project that the Municipality of Loulé is starting, aimed at enhancing the territory and its products, integrated in the PADRE – Action Plan for the Development of Endogenous Resources, promoted by AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community in the under the Operational Program CRESC Algarve2020.

The strawberry tree and the strawberry tree are one of the main resources in the interior of the municipality of Loulé. The plant, its flower and its fruit allow for multiple uses and give rise to a great diversity of products, although we are still in the primary phase of exploring what their use could be.
