Altura celebrates the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the sound of DAMA

Event lasts from the 5th to the 7th of July

A concert by the DAMA, on the 6th of July, at 22 pm, is the highlight of the Feasts in Honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which take place in Altura (Castro Marim). 

The venue opens on Friday, the 7th, at 19 pm, with the Altura Handicraft Fair, a genuine display of local arts and crafts, with a huge variety of regional sweets. The group “+ 00” will animate this evening, and the ethnographic parade by the “Associação Cultural Amendoeiras em Flor” is still scheduled, starting at 2 pm.

Saturday is DAMAS day, at 22 pm. The Portuguese band, originally from Lisbon and officially formed in 00, is made up of musicians Francisco Maria Pereira, Miguel Coimbra and Miguel Cristovinho. His repertoire includes songs like “No Faço Questão”, with the participation of “Gabriel, O Pensador”, which was number 2008 on iTunes in Portugal.

Sunday is marked by religious celebrations, increasingly valued and with greater expression. At 17:30 pm, the Marian Rosary is recited at the Igreja de Altura, followed by the celebration of the Eucharist and the Procession in Honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, scheduled for 19:00 pm. The celebrations will then move on to the party venue, where the Marcha Popular de Bordeira will pass (21:00), the Ballroom Dance Group of the Universidade do Tempo Livre (21:40) and the Dance of Altura group, the Arutla (21:45) .

The Festivities in Honor of the Imaculado Coração de Maria are jointly organized by the Parish of Altura, Altura Parish Council, Clube Recreativo Alturense, Imaculado Coração de Maria Brotherhood, Employment and Vocational Training Institute and Castro Marim City Council.
