Algarve prepares for the 2020 Professions Championship

The Algarve has already started to prepare for the next National Championship of Professions – Skills Portugal, which will take place in Setúbal, from 9th to 14th February 2020.

On Wednesday, a dozen Secondary Schools offering Professional Courses, the Hotel and Tourism Schools of Tourism in Portugal, the IEFP Training Centers, the For-Mar Training Center, the Luso-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Vocational Schools and other entities that operate in the field of qualification of young people, as well as technicians from the Municipality of Portimão, participated in a work session in Portimão.

At this meeting, which took place at the Employment and Vocational Training Center of the Barlavento of the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), «in addition to thematic issues related to the 2019 – 2021 championship cycle (from Setúbal to Shanghai) were addressed. practical aspects related to the capture and training of trainees were addressed, aiming at successful participation”, according to the IEFP.

The Professions Championships, which take place in more than 70 countries and in addition to the national phase, have a European and a world phase, «constitute one of the most powerful tools for valuing professions, attracting trainees/students for Vocational Education and Learning, and promoting the quality of professional training».

«Thus, the Algarve is preparing, not only to guarantee a good presence in the next Skills Portugal, which will take place in Setúbal in 2020, but also to host Skills in 2022», concluded the IEFP.

At this time, and until the 21st, the championship registration period will take place. After a pre-selection phase, take place the Regional Championships, between 19 and 21 November this year.

Trainees who excel in Skills Portugal 2020 will have the opportunity to represent Portugal in international competitions. The European Championships will take place between September 16th and 20th, 2020 in Graz, Austria, and the Worlds will take place in Shanghai, China, from September 23rd to 27th, 2021.
