Alcoutim receives a reading contest promoted by the Lower Guadiana School Libraries

The Baixo Guadiana Library Network holds the 5th Reading Contest

This Thursday, the 13th of June, the main hall of Alcoutim City Hall receives the 5th edition of the Baixo Guadiana Reading Contest, organized by the Baixo Guadiana Library Network, this year with the support of that Municipality.

The initiative is aimed at students in the 3rd cycle of the three municipalities that make up this Network: Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, previously selected in each school, with a total of 21 finalists.

Its main objectives are to encourage and reinforce students' playful and autonomous reading practices, encourage healthy competition among peers and reward students' commitment and investment in reading throughout the year.

The test consists of three stages: Written test on the book papalagi, by Tuiavii de Tiavéa, reading aloud from a poem by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, from the brochure 100 years, 10 poems by Sophia, provided by the organization, and proof of argument convince me to read your book.

The organization of this initiative has had the support of the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, for five years, on a rotating basis.
