The Volta ao Algarve à Vela takes place from the 18th to the 20th of July and will bring together 200 athletes.
«The Naval Club Gymnasium of Faro, with the annual holding of this competition, intends to honor the Algarve region and the respective navigation conditions, as well as promote the practice of this nautical sport», says João Marques, president of the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro.
The 27th edition of the Volta ao Algarve comprises three stages. The stage corresponding to the first day of the race starts in Lagos and ends in Albufeira. On the second day of competition, the sailors depart from Albufeira and finish their route on Ilha da Culatra.
The last stage of the Volta ao Algarve à Vela departs from Ilha da Culatra and ends in Tavira, where the 27th edition of this initiative will be concluded.
The Volta ao Algarve 2019 was designed keeping the essentials of the 2018 edition, both in the reception of sailors and in the reception of guests.
According to the organization, 40 sailboats and 200 sailors are expected to participate.
