São Brás de Alportel celebrates, this Saturday, June 1st, 105 years of elevation to council, and the anniversary will be marked with the presentation of projects, a party for children and a concert by the Angels.
The solemn ceremonies begin outside the Paços do Concelho, at 10:00 am, with the raising of the National Flag, to the sound of the National Anthem performed by the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, with honors to the flag by the São Brás Volunteer Fire Department of Alportel.
At 10:15 am, the Solemn Commemorative Session begins, in the Paços do Concelho building. Municipal insignia of honor will be awarded to citizens who held the position of President of the Municipal Assembly, since 25 April 1974, in recognition of the council's mayors, and municipal insignia of value and altruism to local associations in activity for over 25 years.
“São Brás de Alportel, Challenges of the Future!” is the motto for the next moment, when projects in the area of mobility will be presented, namely the requalification projects of the southern section of Avenida da Liberdade and the construction of the new “Circular” Bus Terminal.
The new São Brás de Alportel Geoportal will also be presented, a fundamental tool for accessing information regarding territory and planning.
In the afternoon, at 16 pm, there is a traditional pilgrimage to the mausoleum of the founder of the municipality João Rosa Beatriz, at the Municipal Cemetery.
The Municipal Gallery opens its doors at 16:30 pm to inaugurate its most recent exhibition: “VIDA – Wildlife of Botswana and South Africa”, by Vitor Azevedo.
In full Children's Day, families are invited to join the Children's Party that will liven up the Carrera Viegas Garden between 15:00 pm and 19:00 pm, with various activities for kids and adults.
The commemorative program culminates with a commemorative concert carried out by the “Anjos” Group, scheduled for 22:00 in Praça da República, followed by a fireworks show.
