Judiciary Police arrest 17 Hells Angels in mega-operation

Detainees are aged between 29 and 52 years old.

17 men, from the motorcycle group Hells Angels, were arrested this Tuesday morning, 21 May, by the Judiciary Police, in a mega-operation that took place from North to South of the country.

According to SIC Notícias, some of the arrests took place in the Algarve.

In a statement, the PJ says that this operation involved "the participation of 150 operational". The objective was the "execution of dozens of house and non-household searches as well as the fulfillment of several arrest warrants."

The detainees are aged between 29 and 52 years old.

This operation falls within the scope of an investigation entitled by the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action, to which 41 defendants have been in preventive detention since July 2018.

The individuals now "are part of the structure of the Hells Angels group and are indicted for the crime of criminal association, and their presentation is scheduled for tomorrow at the Criminal Instruction Court of Lisbon, for judicial interrogation and enforcement of coercive measures." concludes the PJ communiqué.
