Portimão Market integrates the international campaign “Love Your Local Market”

Special action “(H)À Noite no Mercado” is one of the highlights of the month

Throughout the month of May, and under the national expression “I Like My Market”, the Municipal Market of Portimão, located on Avenida São João de Deus, joins the international campaign “Love Your Local Market”, coordinated and supported since 2014 by the International Union of Markets (WUWM – World Union of Wholesale Markets).

This campaign is already being carried out in more than 30 countries in Europe, America and Asia, and has the participation of more than 3000 markets, proposing the realization, during this month, of activities to promote markets as essential structures of the agri-food trade in the cities and villages.

In partnership with SIMAB, which is the coordinating entity for the campaign in Portugal, the Avenida São João de Deus Market joins this international initiative for the second year in a row, promoting special activities throughout the month.

Promotions and special offers are planned in all commercial sectors of this commercial space, culinary demonstrations and tastings, entertainment and entertainment.

Highlight for the draw for gift cards organized by the Commission of Operators of the Fish Industry of the Portimão Market, which, from the 3rd to the 25th of May, will provide customers with participation coupons to be eligible to win these offers, through equal purchases, superior or multiples of 10 euros, in spaces adhering to this initiative.

There will also be the special action “(H)À Noite no Mercado”, scheduled for May 25, which, between 19:30 pm and 00:30 am, will promote, in the commercial space of the Market, the special edition of “Choque Frontal ao Vivo”, produced by Alvor FM radio.

Having as a guest Fernando Leal, elected new artist Algarve 2018 by this local partner, on the occasion of this evening initiative, there will be a fashion show with models from Portimo, organized by the Associação Portimonense do Comércio e Serviços, with the presentation of the collections of the Association's member stores .

The models will be combed by the hairdresser Bérenger Olivier – Hair Deginer Portimão and made-up by Wiata Beauty – Esthetic Studio, in an initiative intended to be local and to bring market operators closer to the local commerce and population.

“(H)À Noite no Mercado” will once again feature taverns, offering a unique opportunity to visit the Market after hours and purchase fresh items directly from the operators, who will also be represented in the evening initiative.

With the motto set for 2019 – “in your neighborhood, on your street, at the bus stop… Mercados no Coração!” – the purpose of joining this initiative is to bring this equipment closer to the population, encouraging physical proximity between traders and customers, and recognition of the quality and freshness of the products sold in this market.
