Proposals abound

Concerts by Dino d'Santiago and Diogo Piçarra, the F1 World Championship in Power Boating or the Algarve Jazz Gourmet Moments Festival are just examples of the much that the Algarve has to offer throughout the month of May. 

The highlights in the music belong to the Algarvians Diogo Piçarra (10th, at the Arade Congress Center, Parchal, at 21 pm) and Dino D'Santiago (on the 30th, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, Silves, at 18 pm), who return to perform in a familiar house.

Guilherme Duarte, creator of the blog “Por Falar Noutra Coisa”, promises to entertain the Algarve public with his solo stand up comedy, on the 21th, at 21 pm, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

In turn, if you like magazine theater, this month you will be able to watch two plays: “Volt'A Portugal em Revista” (on the 31st, 21 pm, Municipal Auditorium of Olhão) and “A Culpa é do Cu…meta” ( from May 30st to June 31nd, always at 2 pm, at the Carlos do Carmo Municipal Auditorium, Lagoa).

If you like the tragedy more, Frei Luís de Sousa is a good option (11th, at 21 pm at the Municipal Auditorium of Portimão).

 

 

In sport, the Algarve hosts in May several European and world competitions. The F1 World Championship in Power Boating is, among five international competitions, the highlight of the «Guia Algarve». Portimão receives from 17th to 19th, in the Zona Ribeirinha and Rio Arade, the best motonautics pilots. From 18 to 19 you can also watch, at Meia Praia de Lagos, a synergy between four sports (Kitesurf, Windsurf, SUP and Sail) for 12 hours straight, at Water Kings 2019.

Other cultural suggestions for tourists and residents are the painting exhibitions “Twenty Years After…”, by Francisco Oliveira and Isabel Duarte (Lagos Cultural Center until the 31st of July), and “O Luar entre Nós”, by Frederik Beerbaum, patent at the Bordeira Parish Council until 25 May.

Faro welcomes for the 34th time the Algarve Academic Week, until the 11th and there are big names that will act. Also in the festivals and festivals chapter, you can visit the Festa da Espiga (30th May to 1st June, Salir), and the 3rd Mostra de Papas de Milho (31st May to 2nd June, at Praça Al-Mutamid, Silves) .

the cultural program "365Algarve" maintains a quality schedule with a set of unique events. O Algarve Jazz Gourmet Moments Festival (24 to 26, 21:30, Centro Cultural de Lagos) and São Braz D'Alportel, 1914 (on the 25th, São Brás de Alportel Historical Center, from 18:00 to 01:00) are the highlights of this «Algarve Guide».

 

 

In music, you can still enjoy the Jazz in the Cellars – Miss Manouche (25th, at 17:00 in the Castle of Silves).

There will also be, on May 17, at 21 pm, at the Military Quarter of Tavira, the last cine-concert “Video Lucem – The River”, accompanied by the voice of Cristina Branco.

Also take the opportunity to unveil the historic past of the Algarve in Loulé (24th May, at 18pm in the Castle of Loulé) and Faro (May 31, at 18:30 pm in the Cathedral of Faro).
