Lethes receives “Beethoven” for commented concert

Tickets cost 8 euros

The commented concert “Beethoven” takes to the stage at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, this Saturday, May 25th, from 21 pm.

This is a show integrated in the 34th Algarve International Music Festival (FIMA). In this event, Ludwig van Beethoven's “Septet in E-flat” will be performed by a chamber group from the Southern Classical Orchestra.

The “E-flat Septet” was one of the last works that the Bonn master wrote before he began to suffer from deafness and which contributed so much to a change in his compositional style.

In the words of Rui Pinheiro, FIMA's artistic director, this “is a play with a pleasant character, in the style of serenades, which led to it being received with enormous success by the public and having many different editions and arrangements”.

The work will be performed by a group of musicians from the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, namely Emil Chitakov (violin), Ângela Silva (viola), Mikhail Shumov (cello), Jean-Christian Houde (double bass), Rui Travasso (clarinet), Joaquim Moita (bassoon) and Todd Sheldrick (horn).

Conductor Rui Pinheiro will present this concert, in the format of a commented concert, «letting the audience know what makes this work with Beethoven's signature so special».

Tickets for this show, integrated in the schedule of the "365Algarve", cost 8 euros and can be purchased on site or here
