The Algarve band Íris will give a concert next Sunday, May 12, at 17 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, in an atmosphere of «matine to sing and dance».
According to the Câmara de Loulé, it is expected that the Íris «interpret the themes of their most recent work, “Baladas”, but there will certainly be no lack of classics».
It was July 1979, when a group of four boys decided to form a band whose main intention was to make and play good music. Like so many other bands that proliferated in the South, they immediately started performing at balls and parties all over the Algarve.
Having completed 40 years of career, the Íris are already "mingled with the history of Portuguese light music", being "an unavoidable milestone in the identification of a region".
«Rare are those who do not remember, back in 1996, the appearance of a theme that became one of the band's greatest hits. Its greatest innovation was the interpretation of rock music sung with an Algarvean accent. “Oh Mãe, Aquêle Moçe Bê-me” – a version of the theme “The House Of The Rising Sun”, immortalized by the Animals – was the song by this band that created the most impact to date, but the success did not stop there» , says the Chamber of Loulé.
In 2007 they edit the CD+DVD Iris live with Ensemble Petrov, in which they join a string orchestra, an important milestone in the band's career. At the forefront of innovation and on the path of quality, Íris returned to the recording studios and produced “Sueste”, the result of a long maturation process since the edition of “A2 Sul”, the last album of originals in 2003. in 2014, the album “Ao chance” e. at the end of 2016. the live CD+DVD work “Baladas” which is now presented at the Cine-Teatro Louletano.
The show lasts for 75 minutes and is recommended for children over 6 years old.
Tickets, which can be purchased here, cost 8 euros per person, a value that drops to 6 euros for people over 65 or under 30, and the Friend Card is also applicable.
