An 81 year old man was detained by the Judiciary Police, suspected of having intentionally set a forest fire in Albufeira. The fire happened in Vale Rabelho, Guia, on the 24th of March, around 13:00.
According to the Judiciary Police, there is “strong evidence” that the detainee will have set fire, “by direct ignition, to the existing vegetation.
The retired elderly man, born in Albufeira, is a repeat offender, as he already has a criminal record for the crimes of forest fire and injury.
Coercion measures are not yet known.
The arrest took place within the scope of an investigation overseen by the Public Ministry of Albufeira.
