“Adapted Water Sports” took 120 people to Praia de Faro

The event wanted to promote the practice of water sports among people with special needs and encourage contact with nature

The 4th edition of the “Adapted Nautical Sports” event took place on the 2nd of May, at the Centro Náutico da Praia de Faro. 

This event, organized by the Sports Course of the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) of the University of Algarve (UAlg), by the Centro Náutico da Praia de Faro and by the Hospital and University Center of the Algarve, aimed to promote the practice of water sports among people with special needs and encourage contact with nature.

The institutions that embraced the challenge of participating were Associação EXISTIR, the Cultural and Social Support Association of Olhão (ACASO), UNIR – Association of Mentally Sick Families and Friends of the Algarve, APATRIS 21, APEXA – Association for the Support of Algarve's Exceptional Person, APPC and the Irene Rolo Foundation, with a total of 120 participants, 24 technicians, 21 volunteers from the ESEC Sport course and 10 students from the Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School of the Technical rescue course in aquatic May .

This initiative had as partners the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, the Surf Club of Faro, AMAR Surfing Academia, ES Pinheiro e Rosa – TSSMA, Formosamar, Decathlon, Vela Solidária, SUP Albufeira, the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, Sushi Pearl, Elements, Marieta's Café, Alô Pizza, Continente de Olhão and Arthur's Watersports Academy.
