The City Council of São Brás de Alportel is willing to assume new responsibilities in the health area, provided that the transfer of competences «is accompanied by the necessary funds to meet the responsibilities».

This was the message left by the mayor of São Brás Vítor Guerreiro, during the Regional Meeting of Continued Care, which took place yesterday at the Museu do Traje and brought together hundreds of health professionals.

During the panel “The role of local authorities in the articulation and integration of health care in the community”, socialist Vitor Guerreiro underlined that he is “a staunch defender of local power and the transfer of competences in the area of ​​health from the State to the local authorities. where we work closely with the communities, knowing the real needs of the populations».

On the other hand, he defended the creation of a Continued Care Unit in the county, a purpose he is willing to support.

"It is necessary to feel the reality and have a proactive attitude to resolve situations," said Vítor Guerreiro.

The São Brasense mayor took the opportunity to recall some of the investments that have already been made by the Chamber, in the area of ​​promoting the health and well-being of the community, namely «the installation of equipment for the practice of sports in public spaces and the commitment to ensure that the county is increasingly accessible to all, both on the public road and in public buildings or public buildings».
