Algarve riders want to triumph in Cortelha's Motocross

This will be «a day full of strong emotions and a lot of adrenaline»

The 4th round of the Centro/South Championship takes place this Sunday, May 5th, at the Algar Motocross Circuit, in Cortelha (Loulé). The race will feature Algarve riders who hope to have the «enthusiasm and support of the public» to win. 

In total, 120 athletes are expected in the different classes, in what will be the only stage of the Championship in Algarve lands.

In the MX1 class, the championship is led by the Algarve Pedro Grosso, who runs in Suzuki with the colors of Team Motoclube Loulé Concelho, and who in the last race in Ponte de Sôr was last on the podium, but who arrives at Cortelha with 17 points of runner-up advance: Kawasaki driver Henrique Rita.

In third place in the MX1 class comes Dércio Gouveia, who, in Honda, will try to reduce the 24 points he is behind for the championship leader at Cortelha.

In MX2 a big fight for victory is expected, with the home driver, Fábio Guerreiro, from Team Rocket Store, wanting to emerge victorious with his public, because he will need to collect these precious points to keep fighting for the championship. .

The driver from Quarteira took 2nd place in the last race, which allows him to reach Cortelha in 3rd place in the general classification.

20 points ahead of him is José Montero, Honda rider, who only needs to add six points more than André Marques to overtake him and reach 1st place overall in MX2.

In addition to these two classes, they will pass through the Motocross Circuit Algar, from Cortelha, the Infantis, the Juniors, the Ladies and the Classics.

The team from the Friends of Cortelha Association is carrying out the last works on the Loulé circuit so that everything is ready next Sunday to receive the motocross caravan and the lovers of the sport.

Because this will be «a day full of strong emotions and a lot of adrenaline», says the organization.

Regarding race schedules, from 08:30 am, the training of the different classes begins, so that in the middle of the morning, around 11:15 am, the official races start, with the "starting shot" to be given by the 1st Children's sleeve.

The MX1 class will dispute its heats at 14:30 pm and 17:45 pm and the MX2 races will take place at 14:00 pm and 17:15 pm. Among these will be disputed the sleeves of the other classes.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 18:40, thus consecrating the winners of the Cortelha Motocross event.

Tickets for entry to the Motocross Algar Circuit, in Cortelha, cost 5 euros and can be purchased at ticket offices at the entrance to the venue.

The association of Friends of Cortelha is responsible for organizing this event, with the seal of the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation, and is sponsored by Algar and supported by the Loulé City Council and the Parish Council of Salir, among other entities.
