Moncarapacho once again fulfills the tradition of eating sweets at Cerro da Cabeça

Event has the support of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Moncarapacho

The traditional Cerro da Cabeça Festival takes place this Monday, April 22, in Moncarapacho, bringing families and friends together for a picnic to eat the folar.

To liven up the interaction, the União de Freguesias de Moncarapacho e Fuzeta organizes a ball, starting at 15 pm, with the performance of Silvino Campos. The event has the support of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Moncarapacho.

This festival “began in the late forties of the last century and has become one of the most popular celebrations in the eastern Algarve. In Faro, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira, excursions were organized with the collaboration of employers who dismissed their workers», explains União de Freguesias.

At this party, «under a tree and around a table, the folar was the most desired delicacy of the picnic, where the first snails were also tasted. The climb to the viewpoint, purpose-built for the party a few years later, was also mandatory, and in the afternoon there was an open-air ballet to culminate an unforgettable day of celebration, which was eagerly awaited, year after year," adds the municipality .

The event has the support of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Moncarapacho.
