Teia d'Impulsos launches HOPE project aimed at cancer patients and their caregivers

During the "Open Day", all services available to cancer patients, caregivers, family and friends will be made known

Espaço Raiz, in Pedra Mourinha, Portimão, opens its doors on the 15th of March to host the “HOPE Open Day”, which will present the latest project by Associação Teia d'Impulsos.

With the support of the Municipality of Portimão, the HOPE project «will now provide all cancer patients in the Barlavento Algarvio with access to different therapies and activities that promote their well-being and the adoption of lifestyles capable of enhancing their health and a peaceful experience of the disease process».

«HOPE's mission is Hto further streamline the treatment and support of cancer patients through Obra, because dreaming is not enough, it is necessary to materialize people's desires for the Ppeople, because these are the ones who truly matter and who we want to bring Ehope”, explains the web of impulses.

The association started this project in 2016, with the installation of a 300 liter aquarium in the chemotherapy room of the Centro Hospitar do Barlavento Algarvio, providing, from there, «moments of tranquility and positive evasion».

Then, in 2017, a new aquarium was installed, this time at the Palliative Care Unit at the same hospital.

At this time, adds the association, «HOPE has grown in its objectives and achievements and, from a perspective of social responsibility, is committed to promoting a better quality of life for cancer patients and creating an important support network for families, focusing its action on four areas: clinical psychology and health-psychotherapies; social service; complementary and alternative medicines, as well as promotion and well-being activities».

During the “Open Day”, all the services available to cancer patients, caregivers, family and friends will be made known, as well as the HOPE project team and the respective calendar of activities.

Psychology Sessions (Group Psychoeducation Sessions, groups aimed at people with cancer and family groups), crisis intervention, intervention with family members in the grieving process, nutrition consultations, support in the area of ​​motor skills and physical education, therapy occupational, complementary therapies, creation of support groups and consultancy in imaging care are some of the services provided by the professionals and accredited specialists that make up the HOPE team.
