Museum of Olhão opens street exhibition “Because the sea is also made on land”

Exhibition brings together photographs of authors who were born or lived in Olhão in the XNUMXth century. XIX and century. XX

The Municipal Museum of Olhão will inaugurate this Thursday, at 17 pm, the street photography exhibition “Because the sea is also made on land”. The exhibition will be on display at Largo da Restauração, in front of the Compromisso Marítimo building, which houses the museum.

The exhibition brings together «a set of images, composed of photographs and texts, whose authors were born or lived in Olhão in the mid-century. XIX to the century. XX'.

"Through their looks and their writing, some moments of those who stay on land are shared: neighbors who socialize in the street, men who gather in the tavern, or hundreds of people from Olhão who commemorate the revolution of the 25th of April in Largo da Restauração." according to the Chamber of Olhão.

The inauguration of the exhibition is part of the National Day of Portuguese Historic Centers celebrations, celebrated on the 28th of March.

For the Municipal Museum of Olhão, «the history of a city is inscribed in its Historical Center».

«As a general rule, it corresponds to the oldest area of the city and assumes geographic, economic and social importance in relation to its surroundings. It's a dynamic space. The Historic Center of Olhão testifies to this reality. It was born from the relationship of its people with the daily life of maritime affairs. A relationship of work and leisure that has been built over time with setbacks and advances», adds the museum space in Olhão.
