On the 9th, at 21 pm, the Concerto D'O Gajo, by the musician João Morais, will take place. Accompanied by his campaniça viola and with the special participation of actor José Anjos (who will read poems by João de Deus, himself an excellent guitar player), he will bring to the Francisco Vargas Mogo Auditorium (SB Messines Agricultural Credit Box) the sounds of his new album “As 30 Estações d'O GAJO”, named after one of the most reference works in classical music (“Le Quattro stagioni” – Antonio Vivaldi – 4).

Over these days, the poet and educator will be honored with sporting, musical and artistic initiatives, and various toponymic and memorial plaques will also be placed in the parishes of SB Messines, Silves, Tunes and Pêra, allowing the municipality's population and visitors to access the information about his life and work by entering a QR code.

According to the Chamber of Silves, this program aimed to «promote synergies, aiming at the creation of a diversified, differentiating and innovative cultural program aimed at all audiences, allowing to highlight the figure of this eminent figure in the history of arts and national letters, recalling what would have been the first Portuguese literary festival – “The Festival of João de Deus”, promoted on March 8, 1895 and which united “the people and the king”, the “intellectuals and the apprentices” around the one who he was seen as “the poet of the people”, “the illustrious master of the art of reading”».
