A cycle of tribute to Vítor Reia-Baptista continues with a film by Bergman

Entrance is free for students and faculty.

The film “Mónica and Desire” (Sommaren Med Monika), by Swedish Ingmar Bergman, is shown on March 20, at 15 pm, at the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, in Faro, under the cycle of tribute to the late professor Vítor-Reia Baptista.

The cycle “Heretico e Libertario” thus offers the opportunity to see (or revise) this film by Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, premiered in 1953. in Faro.

The film tells the passion of two teenagers who flee their families to look for the illusions of happiness in the islands of an archipelago.

This tribute cycle, organized by the Cineclube de Faro and by the Research Center in Arts and Communication of the University of Algarve, with the support and collaboration of the Superior School of Education and Communication, started in February and will continue until the end of 2019.

Admission is free for students and teachers.

According to the organization, this is an «opportunity to take their classes to know an independent and author film cycle, to contact with reference works in the history of cinema practically invisible outside the alternative circuits and to listen and participate in conversations about the films (history, aesthetics and language of cinema) and about the honored».
