European project brought young leaders to Portimão

Project is co-financed by the European Commission, through the Erasmus+ program

A training action for young leaders, with the participation of trainees from 12 European countries, took place in Portimão, between 9 and 14 February, within the scope of the European project “Academy of Youth Democracy”.

According to the promoters of the project, coordinated by the DYPALL Network platform, these young leaders “will have the responsibility to design and implement a set of initiatives to encourage youth participation in the next European Elections, in their countries of origin”.

The action took place "in a context of learning and sharing", with participants from different European countries and cultures discussing common values ​​and perspectives for the future of the European Union.

The “Youth Democracy Academy” project aims, “by empowering young people for European citizenship and democratic participation, to raise awareness of those who vote for the first time in May this year”.

Aged between 17 and 20 years, the participants "developed capacities as multipliers of this campaign, which will be developed at a local level, with the aim of being passed on to their peers, in the countries and localities of origin".

The initiative uses "an informal approach of communication and motivation among young people, to provide the means for the development of sensitivity affects their political lives, and consequently, their involvement in electoral acts".

This project is co-financed by the European Commission, through the Erasmus+ program, with local support from the Municipality of Portimão.
