Government confirms that there will be a 4th edition of 365Algarve

Initially, only three editions were planned

The Government has just confirmed that there will be a 4th edition of the cultural program “365Algarve”, which runs through the region in the low season, taking place between October this year and May 2020.

This decision comes “after three editions in which the articulation between tourist and cultural agents was notorious”. This is a program that, by the way, only had three editions planned, but the success made the Government advance to a fourth.

For Ana Mendes Godinho, Secretary of State for Tourism, «365 Algarve has been an important instrument to promote this destination as a live destination throughout the year. That's why we are going to launch the 4th edition, between October this year and May 2020».

«The success of this program has allowed us to create unique, cultural, authentic and surprising experiences for both national and foreign residents and tourists. We have also made a great effort to capture air routes during the low season. Since 2016, overnight stays in the low season grew 23%. And between winter 2015/2016 and the current winter (2018/2019), the number of airline seats increased by 33%», he adds.

Ângela Ferreira, Secretary of State for Culture, believes that «launching the 4th edition of 365Algarve is to continue a strategy of dynamizing the territory and decentralizing Culture. This program has already shown that it is possible to counteract seasonality and create new centralities through structured, thought-out and quality cultural programming, anchored in regional characteristics. Proof of the success of this initiative are the numerous sold-out sessions and the growing notoriety that the program has gained. In the 3rd edition, in progress, we have already surpassed 40 thousand spectators between October and December alone».

Streamlined by the areas of Economy and Culture governance, 365Algarve was created in 2016 to improve the attractiveness and tourist experience in all municipalities in the region, reducing seasonality through a quality cultural program, built on the fabric's proposals. local art.

“365Algarve has been attracting more and more audiences and the average number of viewers per session has increased in all editions. To date, more than 300 spectators have attended the events. In the last three years, 1553 initiatives were promoted, in a global investment of 4,5 million euros, financed by Turismo de Portugal», says a joint statement from the secretariats of State for Tourism and Culture.

At the same time, overnight stays in the Algarve during the low season increased by 23% since 2016. Reflecting this, the seasonality rate decreased from 46% in 2015 to 42,9% in 2017. In November and December 2018, passengers landed at the airport of Faro increased 16,4% and 23,3%, respectively.

Some of the most successful initiatives of “365Algarve” are the Lavrar o Mar project, which has taken surprising cultural initiatives to Aljezur and Monchique, the “Video Lucem”, hosted by the Film Club of Faro and that, after two editions of cinema in the churches, this year there are cine-concerts in unlikely places, or the “Smuggling Festival” that literally connects Alcoutim to San Lucar do Guadiana (Spain).

These are joined by the “Jazz nas Adegas”, whose sessions, in Silves, have always been sold out.
