The Municipality of Aljezur will draw four lots of land, in the municipal subdivisions of Malhadais, in the parish of Odeceixe and Maria Vinagre and in the parish of Rogil, within the scope of the municipal program to support the construction of private housing.

Of these four lots, two are intended for lovers, in which at least one of the members of the couple is resident and registered in the municipality and who do not have their own house or land suitable for construction.

The other two lots are intended for «couples in a married or similar situation, with dependent family members, residents and registered in the municipality, who also do not have their own house or land suitable for construction.

“The competition will be open for a period of 30 days and anyone who finds themselves in one of the situations mentioned above can compete for it and, at the same time, is registered in the Candidate Exchange”, explains the Chamber of Aljezur.

According to the municipality, "this municipal program has allowed many citizens to build their own housing in municipal subdivisions not only in Odeceixe, but also in Maria Vinagre (in the parish of Rogil), in Aljezur and in Carrapateira (in the parish of Bordeira)" .

The lots are infrastructured «and the cost per square meter is below the market price, precisely to allow citizens with less economic capacity to acquire land and start building their own house. If they wish, they can also purchase the typical project from the municipality, also at low cost», adds the Aljezur City Council.

The drawing of lots will take place on the 12th of March, during the Chamber Meeting scheduled for that day.

The Council will "soon" draw more lots, "also considering the possibility of opening the competition to single people or similar situations, provided they are resident and registered in the municipality of Aljezur and meet the criteria defined by the Municipal Regulation that regulates the Candidate Pool ».

This measure is part, according to the municipality, of a "strategy to be followed in settling young people and combating the difficulty of access to housing".

At this time, «meetings have already been held with the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, in order to deepen the mechanisms and instruments to develop this strategy, with the solutions to be implemented on the ground to ensure access to housing, also based on recent instruments that the government has already approved in this matter”, concludes the Chamber of Aljezur.
