Low Guadiana Territories promote their Nature Tourism in Madrid

Odiana is going to invest heavily in promoting Baixo Guadiana as a hiking destination

The districts of Baixo Guadiana are going to promote their tourism offer at Fitur, one of the most important European tourism fairs, which will take place in Madrid, the Spanish capital, between the 23rd and 27th of January.

The Odiana Association decided to hit the road to be present at this fair. The objective is to make known the tourist offer of the three municipalities of Baixo Guadiana – Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António – with a strong focus on hiking.

Basically, says Odiana, it is about making known «the conditions of excellence for the practice of active and sustainable nature tourism, with the objective of serving as a privileged showcase for the natural, historical, cultural and gastronomic heritage of the region. territory of the Lower Guadiana, highlighting resources such as the River Guadiana, the fauna and flora and the trails».

"Continuing to invest in nature tourism as a way to combat seasonality and promoting it through specialty channels are Odiana's primary objectives", assures Sílvia Madeira, the director of Odiana, adding that the focus is on «the affirmation of Baixo Guadiana as a nature tourism destination par excellence, under the slogan “Nature without End”».

In Madrid, the association will present, "first hand", the new promotional tools of the Great Route of the Guadiana, namely a promotional video, the guide and the new merchandising material, all of them "essential products for the promotion of this great pedestrian route ».

«In addition to this presentation, Odiana already has a calendar of initiatives that combine the territory's agenda. The Municipality of Alcoutim presents the video and programming of the 2019 edition of the Festival do Contraband. In turn, the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António will make a presentation about the Pombalino Historic Center. The municipality of Castro Marim will also present the “Medieval Days of the South”. On the weekend, 26th and 27th of January, days open to the general public, the Lower Guadiana territory will be presented by Odiana, with the right to a stay”, according to the association.

Odiana participates in the event through the PROMOTURIS project – Tourism and Cultural Promotion Plan, financed by the CRESC ALGARVE 2020 Operational Program.
