José Carlos Rolo wants to solve this year's flood problem with Inatel

In total, Albufeira will invest, this year, 4 million euros in the area of water and sanitation, in part to prevent the repetition of floods in the city's downtown area, such as those that occurred in 2015

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, hopes to see the problem of flooding with Inatel resolved this year.

To this end, says the municipality of Albufeirense, «the works related to the mitigation of flood risks in this area of the city should soon begin, and they are included in the PGDA – General Drainage Plan for Albufeira».

This contract, worth around 297 euros, is of some urgency, in the words of José Carlos Rolo.

«This is an area that is very popular throughout the year, both by residents and tourists, and we can't continue to have problems like this, because when the rainfall intensifies, that area is greatly affected. People complain, with good reason, and we will do everything to solve this problem», he said.

However, in the preliminary hearing stage, also starting this year, there are public tenders for
execution of the contract for “Cleaning and Unblocking the Water Lines in the municipality of Albufeira” (for around 319 thousand euros, plus VAT).

What has already started was the contract for “Repair of ruptures in pipes and branches of the water supply network in the municipality of Albufeira“, an investment of 116 thousand euros + VAT.

The following works are also in the process of signing a contract: the contract for "Execution of water supply lines" (116 thousand euros + VAT) and the contract for the "Rede de Waste Water Domesticas – Caminho do Paiva", in the amount of 76 thousand euros + VAT.

These are not, however, 'final investments'. «These are commitments that we have for the well-being of populations. Water and hygiene are essential areas for a Municipality to continue its development. It is also, certainly, the primordial factor for us to live and enjoy a council that is environmentally more and more dignified and prudent», he concludes.

In total, Albufeira will invest, this year, 4 million euros in the area of water and sanitation, in part to prevent the recurrence of flooding in the city's downtown, like those that occurred in 2015.
