Faro awards the Municipal Architecture and Landscape Architecture Award again

Prize will be awarded in three distinct areas: new work, restoration/rehabilitation and outdoor spaces

"Municipal Architecture and Landscape Architecture Award" of Faro will be awarded again in 2019. The application period opens on February 1st and closes on March 31st.

As explained by the Chamber of Faro, which promotes distinction, «the objective of the initiative is to promote and encourage architectural quality, the dignification of the urban image, the enhancement and distinction of the most relevant works at the municipal level, as well as the safeguarding of the municipality's heritage. The award of this prize is intended to publicly translate the recognition of the Municipality to the project's author, the promoter and the builder».

"Public and private entities and the authors of architecture and landscape architecture projects of the works that have obtained the corresponding authorization for use in the years 2017 and 2018" can compete for this award.

The prize will be divided into 3 distinct sections: New Work, Recovery/Rehabilitation and Outdoor Spaces.

The Municipal Architecture Award was instituted in 1995 by the municipality «with the aim of encouraging good practices in this discipline and contributing to the improvement of the environmental and built quality of the municipality. However, over time, this award was no longer held as regularly as recommended. Biennial, the award resumed in 2017 with a novelty, the inclusion of landscape architecture as one of the distinguished disciplines», explains the Chamber of FAro.
