The Câmara de Lagos will give a subsidy of 2250 euros to the Sociedade Filarmónica Lacobrigense 1º de Maio for 15 members to participate in the workshop “Poole Symphonic Band”, to be held next April, in Poole (England).

The Algarve participants will thus have the opportunity to deepen their "musical knowledge" and consolidate "the bonds of friendship that unite the two entities, as a result of their participation in similar events held in 2014 (in Poole), 2015 and 2018 (in Lagos)".

The subsidy now granted is part of the Municipal Program for Support to Cultural Associations, which has been implemented annually, including a financial component.

The Sociedade Filarmónica Lacobrigense 1º de Maio is one of the oldest and most respected cultural associations in the municipality of Lagos. Founded in 1931, it was recognized as a Public Utility Collective on September 17, 1988 and awarded the Municipal Medal of Merit – Silver Degree on October 27, 1991 in recognition of its work in the sociocultural sphere.

On May 1, 2006, after completing 75 years of existence, she received the Medal of Associative Merit – Silver Degree, awarded by the Portuguese Confederation of Culture, Recreation and Sports Collectivities, of which she is a member.
