Students from Tavira will make their trees from recycled materials

The Câmara de Tavira project aims to raise awareness of the importance of the forest and what threatens it

Pre-school and 1st Cycle students in Tavira will create trees from recyclable materials within the scope of the “As Nossas Árvores” project, which will culminate in an exhibition of the works made at the city's Municipal Market, between 20 and 23 March.

The Câmara de Tavira will provide the participating schools with tree structures, which the students will later decorate, already thinking about the Day of the Tree, which is marked on 21 March.

«In addition to stimulating creativity, the activity is intended to raise awareness among young people about the threats to the forest and to raise awareness of the importance it represents on the planet», according to the Tavirense autarchy.

During the course of the work, between the first fortnight of February and 15 March, «the municipality makes available to participating schools awareness-raising actions related to the theme of the forest».
