Algar “installs” 381 new ecopoints throughout the Algarve by the end of the year

The company is also purchasing seven new vehicles for selective collection

Algar will install 381 new recycling bins, distributed throughout the Algarve, by the end of this year.

«In a first phase, by the end of June, 400 new equipment had been installed, and the second phase of placing another 381 new recycling bins distributed throughout the region has already started, which will be completed by the end of this year», says Algar .

This reinforcement allows for a 30% increase in the recycling bins made available for selective disposal throughout the region.

«In addition, we have increased the deposit capacity of 355 already existing recycling bins, since in these places of great production of packaging we carry out the placement of larger containers. With the installation of 781 new equipment and the implementation of these measures, the 16 municipalities of the Algarve will be able to count on a network of around 3500 ecopoints, which translates into a ratio of one ecopoint for every 126 inhabitants», says Algar.

In parallel, the «company is proceeding with the acquisition of seven new vehicles for selective collection and, recently, it has strengthened its workforce, including six new employees for the area of collection and sorting of recyclable packaging, in order to provide response to the production of packaging waste that is processed on its premises'.

Algar is also investing in the selective collection of waste from the commerce and services sector, promoting the awareness campaign “Comércio a Reciclar” in more than 2200 commercial establishments, as part of its “Algarlinha” project.
