Requalification work for the Tavira auction has already begun

During the works, the auction operation is suspended with the fish unloading to be carried out in Santa Luzia

The requalification work of the Tavira fish market has already started, with an investment of almost 400 thousand euros.

This contract has an estimated execution period of 180 days. The work is being carried out by Iceblock «and is part of a wide range of interventions for the municipality of Tavira», adds Docapesca.

During the works, the operation at the Tavira fish market is suspended, so the unloading of fish is now carried out in Santa Luzia. Docapesca then guarantees the transport of this fish to the fish market in Olhão, by means of a vehicle equipped with a cold room.

«The requalification of the auction includes a framed structure in reinforced concrete, the replacement of the roof by a system of solid slab and waterproofed from the outside, creating the conditions for the attribution of a Veterinary Control Number (NCV)», says Docapesca.

In addition, a panoramic window will be installed on the porch of the east elevation, which will allow to observe the operation of the auction.

The south elevation wall will be used to install a mural depicting the city and its relationship with fishing, to be developed in conjunction with the Municipality of Tavira.
