African students from the University of Algarve promote conference on Science and Art

Ambassadors from Mozambique, Angola and South Africa will be present

“Science and Art at the forefront of African development” is the theme of a conference organized by the Autonomous Section of African Students of the University of Algarve, which will take place on 12 October, in the Green Auditorium (building 8), in the Gambelas Campus, starting at 9:00 am.

This initiative will be attended by Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca, Angola's ambassador to Portugal, Joaquim Bule, Mozambique's ambassador, Mmamokwena Gaoretelelwe, South Africa's ambassador, Luís Filipe de Jesus Alonso do Amaral Galiano, Angola's consul general in Faro and Rui Moreira de Carvalho, president of the Portugal Mozambique Chamber of Commerce.

According to the University of Algarve, this conference aims to «promote academic debate, always bearing in mind the benefits of African society, the advancement of the various areas of science and art and their multidisciplinary integration».

The meeting “also intends to enable networking moments between students and African communities, with public and private entities”.

«With a program full of activities, exhibitions and debates, this conference will also share success stories of African artists residing in Portugal, such as Costa Neto, considered by many to be the most faithful interpreter of Mozambican music, among other guests », concludes the University of Algarve.
