Alcoutim City Council will contribute a maximum of 14500 euros to the Brigada de Sapadores Florestais which will be created by AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community.
As explained by the Alcoutim Chamber, the amount will be paid "over a period of five years, from 2018 to 2022, with a view to sharing the operating expenses of a Brigade of Sapadores Florestais."
The alcouteneja autarchy recalls that «AMAL decided to go ahead with the creation of a brigade of forest sappers, which will operate throughout the Algarve region».
With this aim, the association of municipalities submitted an application for the constitution of a Brigade of Sapadores Florestais, which encompassed all municipalities in the Algarve.
The Brigada de Sapadores Florestais will have the operational base installed in São Marcos da Serra, in the municipality of Silves. The 15 sappers that will make up the brigade must be grouped into three teams of five operational, «one of which may be allocated to the municipality of Monchique and the other to the municipality of Loulé».
The competition for the admission of sappers is now open.
In addition to hiring human resources, the brigade will also be equipped with the necessary material.
