"Great intensity" fire is raging in Rogil

For now, there has been no need to evacuate the population.

A 'great intensity' fire has been raging since 13:20 pm in an area of ​​woods and pine forests in the Carrascalinho area, in Rogil, in the municipality of Aljezur. So far, “there is no record of the need to carry out any evacuation”, despite the fact that the fire is raging in a place with a lot of scattered housing.

The guarantee was given to the Sul Informação by Abel Gomes, 2nd Operational Commander of the District Relief Operations Command of Faro. “At first, we received the indication that the fire would be close to houses, but fortunately the flames evolved in another direction and there was no need to evacuate people,” he said.

Abel Gomes said that the fire had two fronts and was being fought, around 15:30 pm this Wednesday, by 202 workers, supported by 63 vehicles and five aerial means.

However, it found the Sul Informação, the fire is raging near the Feitirinha Industrial Area, very close to the village of Rogil.

"We also asked the GNR to cut the EN 120, in that area, but just as a precaution, due to the proximity of the fire to that road", said the 2nd Operational Commander of the CDOS of Faro.
