Champion of open waters makes a 13-kilometre crossing, swimming from Meia Praia to Rocha

Swimming crossing has a solidarity nature, in favor of the Alzheimer Portugal Association

Susana Novais Santos, neuroscientist, champion of open water swimming and the only Portuguese woman who has ever managed to swim the tough Berlengas-Peniche crossing, will now make, on 1 September, another long 13-kilometer solidary crossing, with a group of swimming friends, between Meia Praia (Lagos) and Praia da Rocha (Portimão).

The swim crossing, in which the swimmers Paulo Sousa, Tomás Metcalfe, Brian Fortune and José Faustino also participate, is intended to raise funds for the “Friends in Dementia” campaign of the Alzheimer Portugal Association.

The organization of the initiative calls for the public to welcome "these brave and supportive swimmers" to Praia da Rocha, but also to be "supportive and generous", contributing financially to the Alzheimer Portugal Association campaign.

“Swimming ultramarathons is difficult, but it costs nothing to help”, they emphasize.
