Olhão will be again invaded by privateers and on the other bad people, in a new edition of Festival Pirata, which will animate the riverside of the city between the 31st of July and the 3rd of August,
Street entertainment, fire, fights, dramatizations, music and dance are some of the attractions of the event, which always takes place between 18:00 and 22:00.
In addition to the pirates, «there will be no lack of typical characters of the time, such as milkmaids, fishmongers, washerwomen, water sellers, fishermen, sailors, or bourgeois, who will star in moments of animation, historical recreation, performing arts, scrimmages, stories, circus arts, music and dance», describes the Chamber of Olhão.
There will also be a daily pirate market, in front of the Municipal Markets, and a show in the area where the Bom Sucesso caique is docked.
The Pirata Festival is organized by the municipality of Olhão, in partnership with the theater company Viv'arte.
