The Book Fair of Olhão (FLO) takes place from the 14th to the 21st of July, at Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes, in an event that is «already a reference» and wants to be «another success». More pavilions with book sales but also exhibitions, theater and music are highlights of this year's edition of FLO.

Adriana Freire Nogueira, one of the programmers, with Sandra Boto, of this event of the Municipality of Olhão, explained, in a conversation with the Sul Informação, that the Book Fair «keeps a similar structure to last year».

«We tried to bring together authors who live in the Algarve, with others who come from abroad to show what is done in the national literary panorama, covering various genres», he said.

Every day, at 21 pm, at “At night, at FLO” several guests will be received. It all starts on the 30th, with Miguel Miranda, linked, for example, to the detective novel, and Luís Ene. The next day there are Filipa Martins and Paulo M. Morais, followed, on the 14th of July, by the session with Isabel Rio Novo and António Manuel Venda.

The night of the 18th has poetry, with João Luís Barreto Guimarães, but also Marco Mackaaij and Catherine Dumas. On the 19th, “À Noite, na FLO” is performed with Manuela Sabino and Paulo Cunha.

On the 20th of July, Ana Cristina Leonardo, born in Olhão and has a new book, called “No Centro do Mundo”, is one of the guests, as well as António Ladeira. These conversations end, on the 21st, with Rita Ferro and Eduardo Jorge Duarte.

But not only these sessions do the Book Fair.

One of the novelties is the “End of afternoon conversations”, taking place from Tuesday to Friday, at 18 pm, with writers residing in the municipality of Olhão, in an initiative of the local Parish Council.

“We want people to come to the Fair to meet authors they like and discover new ones. We are going to stimulate the conversation and we hope that FLO is once again a success», referred Adriana Freire Nogueira.

And, as this is a «wider book fair», there is also theatre, music, photography and painting.

In the plastic arts, on the opening day, 14th of July, a painting exhibition will be inaugurated by the Art Center of Pintores Olhanenses and by OLHAM – Photography Club of Olhão.

With regard to theatre, and as part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the José Mariano Gago Municipal Library, Virgílio Castelo brings the play “The last day of a condemned person” on the 14th.

On the 16th, it is the turn of the popular Jorge Serafim to enchant with “Contos ao Sera”. On three nights a week, actor Alexandre Lopes opens “At night, at FLO”, with a special show, “Serenade em Passeio”, drama, singing and dancing.

In the musical program, on the 20th, Carlos Alberto Moniz will come “Singing poets” and the 3rd edition of the Book Fair in Olhão ends with Sérgio Gonçalves and Amantes d'Fado, who sing Amália.

As for the book sales stands, this year there will be 16, in a total of eight exhibitors. One of the novelties is the inclusion of a pavilion for the sale of Comic Strips and Manga, a genre "to which, at times, one does not give so much value, but which is still literary", concluded Adriana Freire Nogueira, to Sul Informação.
