Chamber renews lending contracts with Lagos Study Center and ACRAL

Manuelina Window Building and Magistrates House were once again transferred

The Câmara de Lagos will renew the lending contracts with the Centro de Estudos de Lagos and with ACRAL. The proposal to renew these contracts was approved at the last Chamber meeting.

According to the municipality, this decision “allows these associations to house their headquarters, and thus be able to promote activities of interest to the community”.

The property known as the “Manuline Window Building”, located in the city's historic center and given in 2013 to the Lagos Study Center (aka “Lagos Senior University”), “is one of the spaces that the Municipality of Lagos will keep allocated to local associations, and to this entity in particular, aiming to continue the meritorious work that it has developed in favor of the senior population of Lagos».

The other is the building called “Casa dos Magistrados”, in Rossio da Trindade, which was transferred in 2013 to ACRAL-Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region, and which, «as a result of this decision, will continue to have the physical conditions to develop its activities to boost trade in Lagos».

The Câmara de Lagos recalls that “in this particular case, the Municipality requires ACRAL to also continue to respect the right to use the north exterior wall of the building by the association LAC-Laboratório de Artes Criativas under ART-Urb, an intervention project artistic in an urban environment that has been asserting itself and deserving the consideration of both the artistic community and the population in general».

Both contracts have a term of one year, are renewable for equal and successive periods of time and "are part of a policy whose objectives are: the profitability of properties owned by the Municipality, giving them use and preventing their degradation ; the promotion of social cohesion in the territory; and the provision of support to cultural, recreational, sporting and commercial associations».
