The June Beta Talk will be “especially sweet” and mouth-watering, with the presence of two entrepreneurs in the gastronomy area, next Monday, the 18th, at 19 pm, at the café concert at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal of Portimão.

From 19 pm, in the usual space of the Café Concerto do TEMPO, the conversation will be with Joana Oliveira, founder of Happiness and Food by Entre Tachos e Sabores, and Baltazar Guerreiro, founder of cuttlefish, two entrepreneurs who embraced new projects and made, on the one hand sweeter, and on the other, healthier, their lives and those of others.

Joana Oliveira is 32 years old, born in Lisbon but it was in Portimão that she lived her adolescence and where she decided to live after college in the capital.

With a degree in Educational Sciences and a Masters in Special Education, she has always been passionate about education and cooking, trying to combine both passions, one in the professional field, as a teacher, and the other in the leisure field, through the creation of the blog Entre Tachos e Flavors.

For reasons of health and well-being, from 2014 onwards, she began to look at food in a more conscious way, not only as a mere act of satisfying a will and need but as an extremely important act for physical and psychological well-being and consequently quality of life.

From that moment on, they change their diet and begin to feel the need to share new learnings and the benefits of adopting a healthier lifestyle. It starts to dynamize workshops and gains desire to be able to create an offer in the healthier restaurant area.

This, together with a growing demand for its services, led it to create a catering service and to invest in the preparation of healthy festive cakes.

He took advantage of the fact that this is a rapidly growing area and at the end of the last academic year he decided to take a break from teaching to dedicate himself 100% to this project. Thus was born the concept Happiness and Food, which combines happiness with a healthy style/food and replaces the previous project “Between Tachos e Sabores” which was the starting point for this entire journey that led her to discover a functional and increasingly healthy diet.

Baltazar Guerreiro was born in Alcoutim, but he has lived in Loulé for over 40 years and it was there that, in 2005, the first gourmet store in the Algarve opened.

The onset of the crisis would make him close the deal four years later, but from then on he was left with the little animal of artisanal chocolate and the desire to learn how to make chocolates like the ones he sold to his customers. I wanted, however, to create a differentiated and Algarve product that was different from what was found in the market.

In 2007, it bet 100% on chocolate, focused exclusively on local products, with emphasis on the fig that gains a new status, together with a “premium” product such as chocolate and gives rise to the “ChocoFigo” brand.

An innovative regional product was born: chocolate with dried fig, which was later joined by almonds, arbutus, carob and prickly pear and even sweet potatoes.

A family business that has been gaining scale, with distribution in the best stores all over the country, and the ChocoFigo brand already sells chocolates seasonally to markets such as Luxembourg, Germany and France, among others, and is also present at many craft fairs. Until the end of the year, it is getting ready to launch new products and make its debut in the organic/artisanal market.

An optician and musician thus embraces the art of making chocolate with an Algarve flavor and becomes above all a chocolate artisan whose greatest joy is seeing and making people happier.

More than an event with a scheduled date and time (usually on the 16th of each month, in the late afternoon), Beta Talk in Portimão has become, since July 2012, a meeting point for entrepreneurs and an inspiring movement , promoting contacts and sharing experiences in the informal and relaxed atmosphere of the TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão café concert.
